It’s entirely up to you! If you’re changing your diet or exercise regime it’s best to get a follow up scan 2-3 weeks later. This way, we can ensure you’re gaining muscle and losing fat, not the other way round!
The Inbody 570 uses electrical impedence of three different frequencies and is the only system that directly measures the body in 5 separate areas being the arms, legs and trunk. Other systems analyse the body in a singular tube system thereby using an average for body composition methods. The Inbody 570 uses an eight point tactile electrode method and direct segmental, multi-frequency, patent technology to accurately measure the water inside and outside a cell. Because it uses multiple frequencies over 8 points, it is not affected by things such as hydration, food intake or time of the day.
This technology has been scientifically verified to be 98.4% as accurate as the DEXA Scan (Dual Energy Xray Absorptiometry) without any exposure to radiation. It has been used in over 500 scientific studies worldwide and is medically graded and TGA approved. For our own peace of mind, we got a DEXA scan and an Inbody 570 scan on the same day. The results? Our body fat only differed by 200g!
Pregnancy, breast augmentation, metal pins, screws or where a pacemaker, defibrillator or nerve stimulator are present. Analysis should not be carried out straight after a shower or the use of a sauna as sweat and heat cause a temporary change in conductivity within the body.
A Doctor's referral is not required for you to have a consultation with an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. However, some people are eligible for 5 consultations under a Medicare Health Care Plan. Ask your GP if you are eligible.
Medicare rebates are available for clients who have chronic conditions or complex care needs on referral from their GP. This program allows patients up to five visits a year with any allied health professional. At Personalised Physiques these care plan visits are bulk billed.
If you have a referral from your Doctor you will need to bring that along. Other helpful items include recent blood test results, a list of current medications, your Medicare Card, your Private Health Fund Card and a food diary.
A Dietitian has a Bachelor's degree and usually an Honours or Masters Qualification. Dietitians have received clinical training to prescribe specific diets for medical conditions. Dietitians have a strong knowledge of Anatomy, Biochemistry and how food interacts with the body. Dietitians are required to complete compulsory Continuing Professional Development. Nutritionists may not have any University qualifications & cannot prescribe individually tailored meal plans, only basic nutrition advice.
